Adult Programs

  1. The Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs provide adult education, ESL, citizenship, pre-employment skills training, and job placement for low-income adults, in collaboration with non-profit organizations all over the Philadelphia area.


  2. Families That Work is for working parents of children from infancy through third grade. This program provides adult education, parenting, early childhood education, and PACT (Parents and Children Time Together). It also addresses the literacy needs of all members of the family while promoting parental involvement in their children's education.


  3. Move-Up Program is for welfare clients and is funded by the Bureau of Adult Basic and Literacy Education and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. The IAC staff conducts intensive literacy and GED classes at the Earn Centers, Job Skill Training Center, Achieving Reunification Center, and Teen-Parent Centers throughout the City of Philadelphia.


  4. Core Education, Employment, and Job Skills Training Programs provide counseling, basic education, GED preparation, intensive computer training, and life and employment skills to high school drop-outs, ages 17 to 21. Participants can receive a high school diploma, job training, employment skills, preparation for post-secondary education, as well as readiness for the world of work.
